The Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit are among the nation’s most effective pro-work, anti-poverty tools. Only those who work are eligible, allowing them to keep more of what they earn. This credit helps working families keep more of what they earn to pay for things like childcare, groceries, and car repairs so they can get to work. Read United Way's fact sheet on this program.
Without Congressional action, key provisions of these important tax credits will go away, and more than 50 million Americans, including 25 million children, will feel the cut. In 2013, both the EITC and CTC lifted 9 million people out of poverty, including 5 million children. Tell Congress to take a stand for working families.
