Day of Action 2017

Each year on June 21 United Way focuses on one single issue and asks the community to participate so we can move the needle on a community challenge and strengthen our community.

This year we’re focusing on Kindergarten Readiness. 33% of Champaign County kindergarteners were not prepared for the first day of school.

Kindergarten readiness is a key for success in school – kids who are not prepared for kindergarten are 25% less likely to graduate from high school and 70% more likely to commit a crime as an adult.

We want to make sure all families of preschoolers in our community have the tools to be Ready for Kindergarten – and books are the most important tool of all.

We are holding a preschool book collection drive on Wednesday, June 21 from 7:30am – 6:00pm at four Busey Bank locations in Downtown Champaign, Downtown Urbana, Rantoul and Mahomet. Our goal is to collect 2,000 books.

Donate a book on June 21, 2017! 7:30am-6:00pm
