IMPACT Initiatives

Many people know United Way as a funder, providing Community Impact Grants to 41 programs in our county.

But that's not all we do.

In addition to our Community Impact Grants, United Way leads local initatives that work to improve Education, Health and Financial Stability in significant ways.

United Way is uniquely positioned to address the biggest issues affecting our community. With these initiatives, we go beyond temporary fixes to create lasting change and impact thousands of lives in Champaign County.

Kindergarten Readiness Initiative

United Way fights for all children to reach their full potential.

School readiness has a major impact on success in school, work and life. 33% of local kindergarteners were not prepared for the first day of school. United Way's Kindergarten Readiness Initiative is focused on getting every child in our community ready for school.

2-1-1 Initiative

United Way fights to improve access to community resources.

Just dial one number - 211 - at any time of day or night and you'll be connected with a trained, caring person who can help you navigate the often-confusing network of social services to find the resource you need. Before United Way brought 2-1-1 to our community, information & referral was only available from 9-5 on weekdays. Now, anyone can get help at any time.

Volunteerism Initiative

A United community fights for the causes it believes in.

There are so many opportunities to give back, but connecting interested volunteers with organizations that need them can be difficult. We've developed several solutions that help connect volunteers with commmunity groups.
